About Mike Kozlak

Me&MyMoney CEO Mike Kozlak has spent his professional life working with money and looking ahead to the future. For the past 35 years, he has been involved in the executive management of leading financial organizations. His experience within this industry gives him the unique and critical advantage to enable the rest of us to take back control of our finances, live the life we want and have money left over.

At the end of 2005, Mike retired as president of the Residential Capital Group of ResCap, the housing finance subsidiary of GMAC. He immediately volunteered to assist in the housing recovery in New Orleans as a result of Hurricane Katrina. Although working on behalf of the Financial Services Roundtable (FSR), his stated objective was “to align the business interests of FSR member companies behind the local efforts to create great future outcomes for the citizens of the region.”  Over the next four years, Mike continued to contribute his time and energy in an attempt to create more powerful solutions for the housing crisis in New Orleans and then the broader crisis that the country faced.

During this time, it became increasingly clear that neither the financial services industry nor personal financial websites and tools were effective in enabling positive financial outcomes for the working backbone of America. Mike believed the failure was a result of both unaligned motivation and an erroneous approach. Over the next few years, he researched the issues, explored countless alternatives, engaged with industry leaders and, finally, identified the critical barriers of success for these customers.

In late 2010, Mike and a small team of dedicated individuals brought Me&MyMoney to life.  The business, and its innovative approach and application, was introduced to the world at DEMO in September 2011.

Mike is passionate about enabling Americans to gain control over their financial future.  He also believes the successful business model of the future will be driven by a new breed of capable and committed leaders who are passionately focused on foundational values, utilizing emerging technologies and skills and creating extraordinary outcomes for the consumer customer. These leaders will better balance the various stakeholder returns, fill the current void in confidence and trust, enable the creation of valuable brands, and build long term growth and success. 

Mike’s Experience
Res Cap and GMAC-RFC: Managing Director and President of the Residential Capital Group, ResCap’s and GMAC’s U.S. based housing finance business. Although already recognized as one of the nation’s premier mortgage banking conduits, Mike was able to lead the organization in a new direction of “Partnering to Create Better Value for Homeowners”. 
Kozlak Associates: Provided strategic and management consulting services to the financial services industry.
